I've always loved listening to and telling stories. The ones that stuck with me had a surprise, a twist.
Good stories engage the listener, engender connection between the listener and the story-teller. Design should do the same.

As a christian it hurts to see that we are known for being anti-homosexual* as opposed to the many other things we can and should be known for.
*Recent Barna Group study found that most people associated the term Christian with “anti-homosexual”.
